GO BIG (Copy)

I've worked in advertising as a copywriter since before the Y2K bug wreaked havoc on humanity.

In that time I have created a wide array of campaigns for the AFL, launched the Big Bash League for Cricket Australia, re-thought what the University of Melbourne stands for, electrocuted people’s faces for the Melbourne International Film Festival (no, really!), created the global Wrigley’s Extra “Food Creatures”, made a pub with no beer for Schweppes, and launched the first ever truly funny Christmas Crackers for Camp Quality with jokes written by comedians.

In 2016, I was the 16th most awarded copywriter in the world (and the highest ranked in Australia) which made my kids very proud indeed. Well, they said they were. I'm still not sure they were telling the truth- which proves they really are the children of an ad guy.

Learn how to become Absolutely Indispensable.

AI talk is EVERYWHERE. Some people think it will replace us all. Others think it will make us superhuman. Most people seem to be somewhere in the middle, trying to work out what the hell it all means.

It truly is one of the most fascinating moments in human history.

For the first time ever, we have machines that can write things, design things, analyse things, summarise things and generate ideas at a speed that would have been unimaginable just a few years ago.

It’s an extraordinary tool. But it’s also created a slightly worrying new habit, which ironically, creates a massive opportunity for those who plan for it.

Whenever something gets difficult, people ask the computer.

Need an idea? Ask the computer.
Need an answer? Ask the computer.
Need to solve a tricky problem? Ask the computer.

And while that is incredibly convenient, it does raise an interesting question:
What happens to our own brains if we stop using them?

The human brain is one of the most remarkable things in the known universe. It has allowed us to build cities, invent aeroplanes, write symphonies, split the atom, create cinema, design sports, cook extraordinary food and come up with the idea of pineapple on pizza. And you have one as amazing as any in history just waiting for an upgrade and the encouragement needed to make you Absolutely Indispensable.

Every idea or business that changed the world began in a human brain.

Not a machine. A human brain.

The thing is, the people who tend to rise to the top of organisations, industries and entire countries are usually the ones who use that brain particularly well.

They make judgement calls when there isn’t a clear answer. They develop taste. They form opinions. They draw on experience. They decide what matters and what does not. And then they make the call.

Those sorts of decisions have never really been about processing information. They have always been about thinking.

GO BIG OR GO HOME

GO BIG OR GO HOME //

Use your brain to make the big decisions. Use AI to do the boring bits.

The real opportunity of AI is not to replace thinking, But to remove the boring stuff that gets in the way of it. Research. Summaries. Admin. Repetitive tasks.

For decades, a huge amount of our time has been spent doing those things. Now machines can do them in seconds. Which means humans, like you and your team, can focus more on the part that actually matters. Thinking. Innovation. Being original.

This is where the real power of AI lies. Not in Artificial Intelligence. But in helping you become Absolutely Indispensable.

Think like a human. Execute like a machine.

The people who will do extraordinarily well in the age of AI will not be the ones who outsource their thinking. They will be the ones who double down on it. And if you can combine human judgement, taste, experience and creativity with the speed and power of machines, you become something very hard to replace.

You become Absolutely Indispensable.

Because the future probably does not belong to the people who outsource every difficult thought to a machine. It belongs to the people who know when not to.

GO BIG OR GET LEFT IN THE DUST

GO BIG OR GET LEFT IN THE DUST //

a big idea for a small brand can launch it TO IMMEDIATE FAME. A big idea for a big brand can send a company into the stratosphere.

How to become Absolutely Indispensable.

Judgement. Taste. Instinct. Experience. Original thought. The ability to make a decision when the answer is unclear. That is the stuff that still matters. In fact, as AI gets better at doing the work, those human abilities become even more valuable.

I work with leaders and organisations who want to use AI properly. Not as a substitute for thinking, but as a way to get rid of the boring stuff so humans can spend more time doing the part that actually matters.

Thinking clearly. Deciding well. Leading better. Coming up with ideas a machine never would. If that sounds useful, that’s because it is.

How to know if you have an idea that will deliver BIG results.

A truly BIG idea lays at the intersection of these 3 worlds…

BREAKTHROUGH
It will be so simple and powerful you’ll think, “How did I not see it before?”

IMPACT
It will leave an impression. First on you and your team, and then on your customer.

GOOSEBUMPS
It will set your heart racing and make you want to tell everyone you know.

GO BIG.
Everything else is a waste of money.

A BIG IDEA WORTH SPREADING
